Inquiry. Insight. Clarity.
The world of science education has never been more complex and complicated.
Parents and their children face an overwhelming array of opportunities, programs, technologies, rankings, research experiences, admissions advice, and increasingly, artificial intelligence tools. Every day brings new information, new opinions, and new claims about what students must do to succeed.
The challenge is no longer finding information; the challenge is making sense of it.
The Catalyst was created to help parents navigate that complexity. Through careful inquiry, thoughtful analysis, and a commitment to scientific thinking, this publication explores the ideas shaping science education, mentorship, research, artificial intelligence, and the future of medicine and the biosciences.
My own path into science was far from linear. I grew up without a roadmap to research, medicine, or academia. The pathways that eventually led me to a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Immunology from the Stanford School of Medicine were discovered gradually through curiosity, persistence, and countless questions. Looking back, I realize how much easier that journey might have been with greater clarity and guidance along the way.
That experience continues to shape the work I do today.
Whether discussing AP Biology, student research, college admissions, artificial intelligence, or the future of science itself, the goal of The Catalyst is not simply to provide answers. It is about asking better questions, challenging assumptions, examining evidence, and uncovering insights that lead to greater clarity.
It is my hope that The Catalyst helps you and your child navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead with greater confidence.
